The Boat: 1972 Alberg 30 hull #499 “Lora LOA: 30’3” Beam: 8’9” Draft: 4’3” Displacement: 9,000 lbs. Ballast: 3,300 lbs. (encapsulated cast iron).

This unique Voyager Edition Alberg 30 underwent an extensive professional refit at CYS in Brunswick, GA, completed in 2014. All new equipment and her liveaboard, offshore-ready modifications listed below were completed at that time unless otherwise noted. The boat, then named "Bells", was trucked to New England where she was sailed locally and dry stored during the winters. In 2016 the new owner and I sailed "Lora" back to Brunswick where she is in the water and ready to go anywhere. Owner loves the boat but is selling because personal issues prevent them from making the voyage he had hoped for. At this price you could not buy a similar boat and bring it up to this standard even if you spent a year doing most of the work yourself.

Engine: 2011 (unused until 2014) Tohatsu Sail Pro 6hp 4-stroke with extra long shaft and hi-thrust prop in new tilt-up, enclosed outboard well. Two 3.1 gal gas tanks on lazarette shelfs. Although sailors fond of motoring may consider the boat underpowered, this size motor was installed because of its lightweight and manageable size while having enough power to drive the boat over 5 knots in calm waters. The idea being to sail when there is wind rather than motoring. This innovative design was tested on offshore passages and works remarkably well. The outboard well could be converted to fit a 9.8 hp motor, if desired. Engine spares include new prop, carb, fuel filter, and water pump repair kit.

Comments:  "Lora” has GA registration and is docked in a well-protected slip in Brunswick, GA. There are a couple small scratches in exterior paint and a few on the interior. Aluminum mast and boom are original and show their age with some surface corrosion, but are still strong and usable. Many more details of the refit are available in the video tours of the boat at the links below. Serious inquiries only.
