The Boat: 1964 fiberglass Tripp Lentsch 29 built in Holland. Hull number 16. LOA: 29’ Beam: 8’11” Draft: 4’7" Displacement: about 7,800 lbs. Ballast: 3,003 lbs lead. Modified full keel with cutaway forefoot and keel hung fiberglass rudder with bronze shaft and shoe. Designed by Bill Tripp. About 50 were built, mostly by Devries Lentsch Amsterdam Boatyard during the 1960s. 6'1" headroom in salon and less forward. 6'4" long settee/bunks. Keel-stepped aluminum mast in good condition. Recently replaced spruce spreaders. Roller reefing spruce boom in excellent condition. Atomic 4 gas engine was removed by previous owner so that's one less job to do. A good size overhanging transom permits a custom tilt-up outboard well installation in lazarette after some modification of aft cockpit layout. This boat has a relatively narrow coachroof with wide side decks. Partial fiberglass liner inside with chainplates bolted through solid fiberglass rather than wood knees or plywood bulkheads. Above average quality of construction and materials compared to most production boats of the era.  33"-wide companionway entrance makes for good ventilation and the high bridgedeck makes it very seaworthy. V-berth forward, clothes locker and enclosed head amidships.Two full bunks in salon with galley and icebox aft. Two cockpit side lockers. Exterior wood in good condition.

Boat has been in inside storage for the past 8 years. The previous owner began a refit by removing the old engine, toilet, and plumbing, some of the seacocks, etc and made some repairs. For at least several years before that she was sailed seasonally and kept inside during the winters and well maintained. A classic design with great potential.


Inventory:  Standing rigging is complete but age is unknown. Good bronze turnbuckles. The sails are all old and should be replaced but may still be useable. The mainsail is roller reefing, hank-on genoa, several working jibs and storm jib, two old style winches on mast and two working sheet winches in cockpit, most of running rigging is there but old, danforth-type anchor with rode and chain, compass, tiller and fittings in good condition, original seacocks available but I would recommend replacing, good bow pulpit, stern rail and old lifelines, deck chain pipe, old toilet removed, bunk cushions in useable condition, original DC wiring, no batteries, old cabin lights, old non-functioning depth sounder and speed log, navigation lights present but untested, no bilge pump, companionway drop boards with lock, some mooring lines and fenders, fire extinguisher, winch handles and assorted spare parts.

Repairs and equipment needed: My plan would be to install a tilt-up outboard well for $4,500 labor plus materials. A new 6HP extra long shaft SailPro Tohatsu motor can be purchased for $1,530. Or a 9.8HP motor could be selected for extra cost. Balsa deck core appears intact except for one soft spot in cockpit footwell. Previous owner successfully repaired a few small areas of deck core from inside in order not to damage the exterior gelcoat. Interior needs new paint. Bottom needs new paint after removing and patching unwanted thru-hulls and replacing the two cockpit drains and sink seacock. New owner may buy either a composting head or possibly a Lavac toilet. If selecting a Lavac then two more seacocks should be replaced and an integral waste tank built below the aft corner of the v-berth. Original gelcoat on deck is intact but painting would make a big improvement. Integral watertank in bilge needs new inspection plates and plumbing. Sail cover is old and should be replaced. Battery locker was forward but should be relocated under cockpit footwell and all electrics and electronics replaced as needed. An anchor roller on the bow and manual anchor windlass should be added. A seahood and dodger is recommended. Other jobs and equipment needed can be discussed after an inspection of the boat by the prospective buyer.

Notes: Current Georgia state registration. Boat is currently stored on her trailer under covered storage at our home and is ready to begin a full or partial refit.

Optional extras available: Trailer to rent or buy for $3,900. Trailer is a 2015 tandem axle Sail-Trailer designed to fit almost any sailboat up to 10,500 lb. Excellent condition, stored mostly inside, seven fully adjustable hull supports, removable frame section under rudder area for easy rudder removal while on trailer, 2 5/16" ball hitch, electric brakes on two 7,000 lb drop axles, spare tire, removable keel side supports. 

We can deliver boat to your home or local boatyard in the southeast for additional charge. Beam of boat is 8’11” which puts it 5" inches over legal road width. An extra wide road permit should be easy to get but we towed it from Virginia to Brunswick without any permit and had no problem.
